The girls are here!

We brought home our girls yesterday. They were born on Wednesday! They are soooooo sweet and cute and delicate. Right now they are living in the guest room because it is a little chilly here (by Florida standards). They will move into the garage this week. After 5 weeks or so they will be ready to move into their coop. This whole process is pretty wonderful. They already have their own little personalities. Meet the girls:
The two Buff Orpington's are Enley and Scout and the Maren is Gilmore:

This is Gilmore, she is a Maren and will be laying dark brown, organic eggs in a few months!

  1. Aw, they are ADORABLE. I remember when ours were so soft and delicate. Now they're huge, cranking out eggs like crazy, and loving it when they get to roam freely throughout the yard.

Sorry it took me so long to respond to your last comment, I've been such a blog slacker lately. Hoping some lovely Spring weather will get me back in the swing of things though.

As for my camera, it's a Canon digital SLR, the EOS Rebel XS. My husband got it for me for Christmas and went with this one based on price and the fact that we already had lenses from an old Canon film SLR which would be compatible. I also have a little Canon Powershot SD1200 IS which is a nice little point and shoot which I use when a smaller camera is more convenient.

Happy Spring to you and your partner and the chicks!

  2. Thanks! Happy Spring to you and your adorable family, chickens included!

Thanks for the camera info. I have been thinking about buying a new camera. I have a point and shoot that is a Fuji and pretty crappy. I wonder if I just don't know how to use it properly. Who knows!

I am beyond beat from all weekend full of chores and yard work. All of which I love. Owning my home is so wonderful and brings me such joy. I love weeding and planting and trimming and piddling around the yard.

We are noticing that it is getting hotter here...ick. This past winter was sooooo nice. Hoping for a not-so-hot summer!
